Dr. Alison Bianchi
Associate Professor of Sociology and Faculty Director of CSGP

Dr. Bianchi is a structural social psychologist who specializes in group processes and in nomothetic theory construction and its concomitant quantitative methodology. She has published in Social Forces, Social Psychology Quarterly, Organization Science, Advances in Group Processes, and many other journals. Currently, she is studying sentiment processes, race/ethnicity in group dynamics, as well as gender identity and group hierarchy. Her projects received funding from National Science Foundation.

I am a mixed-method researcher with expertise in group processes, cognitive bias, and value construction. My current project examines how status inequality spread through routine collaborative role interactions. My work is published in Sociological Focus and Advances in Group Processes. In my free time, I like binge-watching amine, working out with friends, and cooking.
Shyisha Hodges
I am a fourth-year student set to graduate in May 2024, and I am majoring in sociology with a minor in Spanish. I am interested in studying race and ethnicity in the education and criminal justice system. My hobbies include watching live performance art, working with dogs, and spending time with my friends.
Carrie Hodgson
Hello! My name is Carrie Hodgson and I am double-majoring in Criminology, Law and Justice and Sociology. My research interests include social inequality, group processes and mental health in the Criminal Justice System. My goal is to attend law school after my anticipated graduation from the University of Iowa in 2025. In my free time, I like hanging out with friends, exercising, and trying new restaurants.
Mallika Huynh
Hello! My name is Mallika Huynh, and I'm a third-year at the university of Iowa, pursuing a B.S. in psychology and sociology. My research interests primarily reside in examining neural pathways that pertain to stress, as well as looking at group processes/interactions. Outside of research, I enjoy taking care of my plants, and cooking fun things!!
Alexus Imbouathong
I am a senior and will graduating in May 2024 with a B.A in Sociology on the Pre-Law track. My research interests include understanding the inequalities in patient treatment within the American medical system. When I'm not studying you can find me listening to music, playing instruments, or spending quality time with friends and family. After graduation, I will be pursuing further education to become a practicing attorney.
Chloe Johnson
I am a Junior double majoring in Sociology and Anthropology with a minor in Gender, women, and sexualities. My research interests are in studying gender, race, and sexuality and how they interact with socioeconomic status, as well as how they interact with peoples environment growing up (growing up in an urban, rural, or suburban) After graduation, I am hoping to go to graduate school and furthering my study of sociology and pursuing research. In my free time I enjoy reading, crocheting, walking, and Spending time with my cat.
Isaiah Pielak
I am a second-year student pursuing a B.A. in Political Science, Psychology, and Ethics and Public Policy. My research interests include the study of voting behavior and usage of game theoretic and probabilistic models to simulate elections. In my free time I write surreal fiction, am a frequent patron at FilmScene, and can be found working with a number of political orgs on campus.
Gianna Rudolph
I am a junior double majoring in Psychology and Sociology with a minor in Human Relations. After graduation, I plan to go to graduate school for counselor education. In my free time, I love to swim, watch reality TV, or play with my dog.
