Biography
I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology at the University of Iowa. My research examines how individuals imagine and are impacted by societal expectations and cultural beliefs. A question central to my work sits at the intersection of social psychology and cultural sociology: how do people imagine what "most people" think, and how does this imagination shape understanding and behavior? I use survey, experimental, and qualitative methods to understand how cultural beliefs get inside us and shape what we feel and do.
