I'm Mahdi and I grew up in Tehran, Iran. My interest in sociology deals with the intersection of politics and economics. What makes me super excited about studying these areas is how the objective and subjective parts of the stories fit together and create, maintain, or alter a social phenomenon. Social movements have recently caught my attention not only because they have started to play an increasingly active role across the globe but also because they are a very good ground to show how social psychology and political economy meet. I also always find myself thinking about things in a historical way, looking for how a present issue is affected by past events.

In my free time, I video call my family and friends in Iran, walk and talk with my friends here, listen to music, and watch some movies.
