Chad Rhym
Chad Rhym is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at the University of Iowa. He holds a Graduate Certificate in African American Studies, and his research interests primarily revolve around racial inequality, organizational sociology, the sociology of professions, and journalism studies. Through qualitative interviews, Rhym’s dissertation examines how three generations of American journalists engage with, defend, or critique the concept of journalistic objectivity. Rhym's work has been supported by the ACT Foundation and has been published in Ethnic and Racial Studies.
Originally from Athens, GA., Rhym graduated from Morehouse College in 2019. Before Iowa, Rhym was a photojournalism intern at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a photojournalism fellow with The New York Times Student Journalism Institute, and a BIG10 Alliance Summer Research Opportunity Program Intern at the University of Iowa, studying education inequality.
