PhD candidate Chad Rhym's paper titled “If You Don’t Have Roots Here, Why Stay Around? Examining the Cultural Responsibility of Black Teachers” won second place at the 2024 Midwest Sociological Society's conference this spring. The paper centers around qualitatively exploring how Black teachers in the Midwest weigh the pros and cons of their decision to stay or leave their workplaces.
