Ei Miyauchi
I’m Ei (栄), born in Seoul and primarily raised in Tokyo. Moving across national and institutional contexts has shaped my interest in how boundaries—cultural, political, and social—are drawn and maintained.
My research centers on anti-immigrant attitudes and belief systems. In my most recent work, I use cross-national survey data to examine the structure and population-level organization of these attitudes.
Before starting my PhD, I worked in the consulting and finance industries for five years. I also led a research project examining how discriminatory remarks, attitudes, and practices based on race, ethnicity, and nationality manifest in Japanese workplace contexts. The resulting report, based on survey and interview data, is publicly available on the PwC Japan website (in Japanese).
I have been fortunate to receive support from the Fulbright Program during my doctoral studies.
