The Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award recognizes teaching assistants who have demonstrated outstanding abilities at the University of Iowa. The Office of the Provost has authorized the Council on Teaching to give up to 30 awards each year. Alex received $1000 and was presented with a certificate at the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Awards Reception held on April 27th, 2026 in the Iowa Memorial Union Ballroom. 

This is the third win in recent years for a Sociology and Criminology graduate student, with Asa Madison and Maddie Libao winning it previous.
